The 2017 Coronado Cup Matches took place December 2-3, pitting 12 of CMGC’s finest against Brian Smock’s Golf Shop Team. The 2 days in Ryder Cup-like match play format proved to be a “nail bitter”! In the end the CMGC prevailed over the Golf Shop by a very narrow margin.
On Day 1 the format was “Four-ball” play (a.k.a. known as “better ball of partners”), and at the conclusion of play the CMGC Team held the lead, winning 4 of the 6 points available.
During Sunday’s singles matches the Golf Shop was able to capture the majority of the points, claiming 6 ½ points (out of 12), but it wasn’t enough to capture the win. CMGC prevailed over the Golf Shop, 9 ½ to 8 ½ !
There was great golf played by both sides during this competition, but unforeseen outcomes the event created were the real sense of comradery among the Men’s Club and the Pro Shop and the relationships that were forged during the event.
Many sincere thanks to Brian Smock and his stellar staff for hosting such great event!!
